MAPS for 100 Dancers, a Julie Rothschild Movement Project, joins Boulder Arts Week at BMoCA on Sunday March 29, 2015 at 3pm.
This Event is the first of several showings of this project to take place this year at multiple venues in Boulder, as well as the premiere of Rothschild’s new solo Rust.
MAPS (making and performing a solo) for 100 Dancers is a worldwide choreography project initiated by Julie Rothschild in February 2014. MAPS is an online choreography lab space where dancers from all over the globe are gathering to have access to a solo that Julie Rothschild is making, and sharing at this event. Participating dancers have complete artistic license to use this material to create their own solos to share with their audiences. For more on MAPS for 100 Dancers, please click here.
On Sunday, Julie, along with 4 local dancers: Mary Lynn Lewark, Mary Chorba Willmeng, Jun Akiyama and Sunyu von Conrady, will share MAPS for 100 Dancers, not as a formal performance, but as a view of what each artist is making out of the materials that Julie has provided. We will be dancing in the midst of Substrate, BMoCA’s current exhibition.
