Stacey Steers shares short film excerpts from her work and inspirations in a screening and Q&A with Kim Dickey

Learn about puppets, portraiture, and the emotive power of objects in Margaretta Gilboy’s work.

Many of Margaretta’s paintings include dolls and toys. Why did she pick them? What did they mean to her? How did she organize them? Explore these questions in this adult workshop lead by the Art Students League of Denver (ASLD).

Join Exhibiting Artist Stacey Steers and Guest Curator Kim Dickey for a walking tour through the surreal world of Night Reels.

Work side-by-side with Stacey Steers and create a collage with your own photographic memories.

Margaretta considered herself a realist, yet some of her images appear to be distortions or are spatially ambiguous. For this adult workshop lead by the Art Students League of Denver (ASLD), bring a print from a photo that you have taken of your television screen while a favorite program is playing. Do a drawing of the image, or part of the image, and we will discuss what Margaretta may have meant by “reality.”

Let’s discuss why Margaretta’s portraits are different than many other artists’ portraits because of the way they place the subject. For this adult workshop lead by the Art Students League of Denver (ASLD), bring in a photo of you or someone else or a mirror and try to create a portrait that uses the subject in the same way Margaretta portrayed her Subjects.
