BMoCA’s 2014 summer exhibition Game Changer features eleven contemporary artists whose works take a reflective, and often critical, look at games such as soccer, basketball, Ping-Pong, football, baseball, and tennis. Some artists exploit established rules and concepts of competition to illuminate the societal values and cultural norms enforced by games and sports, while others explore familiar sports objects formally as aesthetic tools. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of three free outdoor events for all ages and abilities, and features artists, games, food trucks, and local breweries. BMoCA is looking for a team of volunteers to lead this exciting event series.
Summer Game I: Street Ping Pong & Trivia
July 24, 6-8:30pm
Summer Game II: Yoga in the Park
July 31, 6-8:30pm
Summer Game III: Games Super Finale feat. volleyball, dodgeball, and bocci ball
August 7, 6-8:30pm
The Summer Games Referee Team will be expected to keep up the competitive spirit throughout each event and participate in as many of the games as possible. Duties may also include acting as street marshall, assisting with screenprinting, monitoring beer garden activity, setup, cleanup, and general assistance of artists and museum staff. Volunteers will receive jerseys to signify their important role in the events, as well as a free membership to BMoCA. It is important that volunteers commit to all three events and are dedicated to the Summer Games team!
