Christopher Owen Nelson: Viking
March - October, 2024 @ Adams County

Chrome and patina on wood, resin, and steel, 174” x 48” x 48”

Stemming from a place of curiosity, Christopher Owen Nelson creates artwork that centers interesting elements found in nature. His sculpture Viking is an exploration of the patterns seen in the mesmerizing crystals of geodes. Nelson’s sculpture reveals the dynamic nature of existence and how it gets reflected in the human experience.

About the artist
Christopher Owen Nelson was born in Colorado and studied fine arts at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. While training in classical methods of drawing and painting, he discovered a particular interest in alternative materials; sculpting with found objects or painting on discarded glass surfaces. His interest in these materials began while working in commercial construction, where he gained valuable knowledge in concrete, steel, and woodworking. Nelson is an avid musician as well, whose music informs his state of being and his artistic output.

BMoCA at Adams County is a collaboration between the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art  and Adams County. Curated by BMoCA, this exhibition is an extension of the museum’s exhibition programming.
