About the workshop
Martin Luther King Jr. Library (Aurora Public Library) in collaboration with the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art will be presenting a cyanotype workshop for all ages to participate in the creation of a cyanotype (solar print) mural by artist Christine Nguyen. Nguyen’s installation at the library will highlight our natural world, and celebrate the Aurora community through its individuals. Participants are invited to bring a personal object for the workshop.

About the project
BMoCA and Aurora Public Libraries welcome artist Christine Nguyen to the Martin Luther King Jr. Library (Aurora Public Library). Using several techniques, Nguyen will be presenting a community-created cyanotype mural, and photo-based flags, inspired by the flora and fauna of Colorado and her personal connection to the ocean, the cosmos and phases of the moon. Throughout the library, hidden objects are waiting to be discovered as part of a scavenger hunt. Explore, interact and find the objects represented in Nguyen’s flags!

About the artist
Christine Nguyen was born and raised in California and currently resides in Aurora, Colorado. Nguyen received her B.F.A from California State University, Long Beach and M.F.A from University of California, Irvine. Exhibitions of her work have been shown nationally and internationally. A lover of animals and plants, Nguyen incorporates elements of nature into her practice as a method of bringing her own passions to the audience and creates harmonious environments that promote a sense of calm.

The BMoCA and Aurora Public Libraries collaboration is funded in part by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District and the Kemper Family Foundations, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee.
