About the artist
Cherish Marquez is a queer Latina and interdisciplinary artist with a focus on digital media. She combines the digital world with the physical world, often including handmade objects that act as interfaces to control the worlds she fabricates. Her work acts as the mediation between digital and physical spaces.
About the project
Explore the landscape of Bennett, Colo., through an interactive topographic map and exploratory video game which will be created by artist Cherish Marquez. The virtual map will feature landmarks of the town and surrounding area, and stories from community members will be embedded in the game. The design of the topographic map will be made from recycled fabric, conductive material and an interface that will allow community members to move through a digital model of the community.
The BMoCA and Anythink Libraries collaboration is funded in part by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District and the Kemper Family Foundations, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee.
