Presented by the Jewish Community Center and in partnership with Con·nect, a series of social gatherings designed to amplify BIPOC artists and to strengthen relationships and partnerships among BIPOC artists and arts organizations in Boulder County.
The documentary film, This Is [Not] Who We Are, explores the gap between Boulder’s self-image and the more complex lived experiences, both historical and contemporary, of its Black citizens.
The film seeks to open a space for dialogue among Boulderites and similar cities, overwhelmingly white, wealthy, and conflicted about issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. Is a more economically and racially diverse future possible, both in Boulder and in cities like it across America?
Immediately following the screening we will be joined by Katrina Miller, one of the award-winning Directors of This Is [Not] Who We Are. Katrina will discuss themes from the movie and answer questions from the audience and moderator, Jasmine Sampson. Jasmine is the Founder of Curate Boulder, a cultural arts center dedicated to empowering, celebrating, and showcasing African American artists while creating a more diverse Boulder Valley and building community.

About Con·nect
Con·nect is a series for performance, networking and dialogue among BIPOC artists and local arts organizations. The series is co-organized by the Antiracism Action in the Arts Initiative. The initiative was launched in 2020 as a study group composed of representatives from local arts organizations, including Boulder County Arts Alliance, Dairy Arts Center, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Jewish Community Center, KGNU, the Longmont Museum, the CU Boulder Office for Outreach and Engagement, CU Theatre and Dance, CU Art Museum and the B2 Center. Collectively, the initiative seeks to promote diversity, equity, access, inclusion and fundamental change within historically white arts institutions in Boulder County.
